Senior School Career Warriors Presentation

Career Warrior Super Hero

I put together this presentation for one school. It is pretty self explanatory.

I did it in Canva and it only downloads as a PDF.  Click on Senior School Career Warriors to ask for access to it and I will give you permission as soon as I get to your email.

I could share it from my Canva account too which would make it easier to use if you are a Canva user.

Feel free to use it with your senior school students.

Best Online Courses

The Good Universities Guide has put up this list of websites for online courses.

They say:

1. edX

2. Udemy

3. Coursera

4. LinkedIn Learning

This is not my field of expertise so I can’t recommend one over the other. For information go hereIf you have difficulty finding what you want, let me know and I will put out a request for information across the network.

Workplace Learning Alternatives

Sorry, I can’t shed any light on how to meet your workplace learning obligations under certificate courses.

I wrote to all of the Industry Training Councils on Saturday asking for information and advice and alternatives to WPL.

Norma, who leads the Retail and Personal Services Industry Training Council, is devastated at the hit her retail industry is taking.

The Logistics Industry Training Council said:

Unfortunately at this point in time, it is rather difficult to predict where things are headed… The aviation sector is taking a hit from the tourism side and border closures whereas other supply chain sectors (i.e. distribution centres and road freight) are frantically working around the clock to ensure supplies are prioritized to restock shelves and allow essential medicines and equipment to get into the country.

In the meantime, in case you had not come across this…it a link to a virtual enterprise that may be of assistance for students:

Scitech has Closed

Those who are not taking this seriously may have thought a day at Scitech could be a good idea. Nup:

Scitech Closed

So is the zoo and practically everywhere except schools.

One Wit suggested that weddings could be conducted at schools as you are allowed to have as many as you like there!!

Stay safe.

Work Experience Notes for Educators

These are work experience resources from around Australia which may be helpful for educators who organise work experience.

Victorian Work Experience Manual

This is a 65 page manual. It is based on Victorian laws and policies which are similar to ours, but you will need to map differences if you adapt templates.

The Victorians are so thorough. The manual and website cover issues like:

  • Age of students doing work experience, time spent, hours and conditions.
  • Roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders
  •  There are sample forms that you can adapt.
  • Legal issues like Working With Children checks, OSH, privacy, equal opportunity.
  • Special conditions like working with animals and construction induction training.
  • There are sample evaluation forms.
  • To top it off there is a checklist for teachers.Checklist

Victorian Education Dept Manuals and forms

ACTU Work Experience Resources

The ACTU  resources are a bit less formal than the Victorian government ones. There are tips on what to wear for example.  The Work Experience Diary may be useful to teachers and it will increase awareness of union services.
