Big Day In Cancelled – What do I do now??

The biggest IT day for schools each year is the Big Day In which was to be held at UWA this year. Students often get their career inspiration from this brilliant industry showcase day.

Big Day In

We have just got word through that it has been cancelled for 2020.

Unfortunately, the BiG Day In Perth event at University of Western Australia on 14 May 2020 has been postponed / cancelled after recent directives from both WA Health, WA Department of Education and the Australian Government.

We’re very sad to not be able to run the BiG Day In Perth this year as scheduled, however, we’ll be back bigger and better in 2021 and hope to see you then!  We are looking at some possible other alternatives such as online delivery and will get back to you if those plans seem feasible.

Any queries regarding cancellations etc, please contact me at kerrie.bisaro@acsfoundation.com.au and I’ll get back to you in due course.

Thank you for your support and we can’t wait to see you in Perth next year.

So do THIS

If you want to find out more about careers in IT all is not lost.

Australian Computer SocietyContact the WA branch of the Australian Computer Society. It is the peak organisation for all things IT in Western Australia. Tell them you wanted to go to the Big Day In, which they support, and ask how you can find out more about the industry.

They are lovely people and love to help students, so make yourself known.

WITWA

Women in Technology WA supports women who are interested in careers in IT. WITWA holds events throughout the year to let girls know what is possible.

They are all volunteers who commit their time to helping girls and women to succeed in IT.

Hacked

HackEd is a government program designed to support school students to explore what is possible through hacking data across different platforms to add value. Brilliant.

You could check that out for this year. It will probably be all done online.

Incite

For some real excitement check out the Incite Awards. These are the Awards for the breakthrough IT innovations in Western Australia. Winners go on to the national awards.

It is just great to see the exciting IT work that is being done in WA.

When you know who the cool people are you can target them as mentors!!!
