Are You Living Your Best Possible Life

Forget resilience. Forget the struggle. Forget pleasing others. Everyone deserves a great life without all that.

Once you know what your great life would look like, you can forget the ongoing internal battle about what is right for you and set off in the right direction.

When you find your purpose you gain a new confidence in your decisions. Your decisions feed your confidence. You come to please yourself rather than trying to please others. That is when you create your best possible life.

Your best possible life emerges in a spiral that nourishes itself.

I will take you further into this journey of self discovery.

This is fun. It is all about you. Who you are. What you love. What you do.

Stage 2 Insights Based on the Research

What is guiding your decisions? We analyse the information that you unearth in Stage 1 and clarify your needs and values.

We will refine what drives you and what you want in life.

We have moved from the General Problem to the Specific Problem

What direction will connect you to your purpose?

We go broad again. This is where my knowledge of opportunities in Western Australia shines. I know about international economic trends and the future of work. I know about potential pathways.

In Stage 3 I will make lots of suggestions. We will brainstorm lots of ideas for you to consider.

Year 12s are loving online career counselling

Maybe they are lonely. Maybe they are worried. Maybe they hope I will ground them as this Covid-19 storm swirls around us.

Whatever is going on, I am having great success with online counselling. Year 12s are loving talking over their possible futures online.

The Loveliness of Floating Ideas

When I go into a school to do career counselling I get too many kids in a day. They are scheduled too close together. I don’t have time to mull things over.  It is rushed and exhausting.

balloon

Now that we are doing it from home we have plenty of time to chat and float ideas.

There is no formula to this. We are both headed in the same direction but the path isn’t automated.

We chat. I muddle through my notes. I phone-a-friend. I research information. I hook students up with experts across the In Focus Network.

There is TIME to find the right path forward.

Chilling Out

Students have time to chat to their friends. They talk to their parents. They go for a walk and think. They go back to their teachers to talk.

Then come back and we chat again as we work our way through the career maze together.

Because there is time, the students can explore and unearth their best possible future.

I did it in Canva and it only downloads as a PDF.  Click on Senior School Career Warriors to ask for access to it and I will give you permission as soon as I get to your email.

I could share it from my Canva account too which would make it easier to use if you are a Canva user.

Feel free to use it with your senior school students.

Best Online Courses

The Good Universities Guide has put up this list of websites for online courses.

They say:

1. edX

2. Udemy

3. Coursera

4. LinkedIn Learning

This is not my field of expertise so I can’t recommend one over the other. For information go hereIf you have difficulty finding what you want, let me know and I will put out a request for information across the network.

Workplace Learning Alternatives

Sorry, I can’t shed any light on how to meet your workplace learning obligations under certificate courses.

I wrote to all of the Industry Training Councils on Saturday asking for information and advice and alternatives to WPL.

Norma, who leads the Retail and Personal Services Industry Training Council, is devastated at the hit her retail industry is taking.

The Logistics Industry Training Council said:

Unfortunately at this point in time, it is rather difficult to predict where things are headed… The aviation sector is taking a hit from the tourism side and border closures whereas other supply chain sectors (i.e. distribution centres and road freight) are frantically working around the clock to ensure supplies are prioritized to restock shelves and allow essential medicines and equipment to get into the country.

In the meantime, in case you had not come across this…it a link to a virtual enterprise that may be of assistance for students:

Scitech has Closed

Those who are not taking this seriously may have thought a day at Scitech could be a good idea. Nup:

Scitech Closed

So is the zoo and practically everywhere except schools.

One Wit suggested that weddings could be conducted at schools as you are allowed to have as many as you like there!!

Stay safe.
