Not belonging anywhere is devastating. When you leave school you lose your routine, your purpose, your place within your group. You may even lose your group. You can feel as if you don’t belong anywhere.
I saw the movie They shall not grow old during the holidays and in it, one of the former soldiers said:
I liked being in the army. I liked being told what to do.
He would rather the threat of being killed or maimed every minute than be on his own making his own decisions.
Big changes bring big fears.
School leavers are vulnerable when they leave school and there are dream sellers out there trying to find you, sell you a magical future and take your money.
