Careers in rail are booming. Thousands of people are employed across loads of different occupations, and Australian railway systems are technology rich and world class.

In Western Australia the rail industry is booming with millions of dollars being spent on the underground railway from the airport to Perth, the Thornlie – Cockburn Link, and the Yanchep line, as well as the planned Ellenbrook line.

In addition, the State Government has made a commitment to have the rolling stock built in Western Australia.

These infrastructure projects will provide jobs during the planning phase for engineers and infrastructure planners and project managers. During the construction phase there will be opportunities for apprentices and trainees to gain skills which are readily transferable to the mining industry.

Once the services are operational there will be jobs for corporate specialists in finance, HR, and IT, business and operations management,  customer service and administration.

Teaching has been the foundation for a lot of my career.
