An amazing opportunity and great people.

I am finally thinking about positive things.

Loved discussing ideas and the possibility of getting our projects into motion.

Thanks to Kent Street Senior High students for your amazing feedback.

Our  4 week Redefining Futures program was an experiment in empowering students to become changemakers who make the world a better place. AND IT WORKED!

The expert 16-year-old students in Western Australia in 2016 identified these projects to address issues impacting on them:

  • Creating an app that would help students to have their views heard.
  • Developing a fitness regime for the school.
  • Promoting mental health and well-being in the school.
  • Building a social media strategy supporting students to cope with change.

Non-teachers in the Redefining Futures Team were blown away by the maturity, knowledge and wisdom of 16-year-olds at Kent St SHS.

I hope these Student Changemakers lead the way for a movement of Western Australian students empowered to create the world as a better place.

A fantastic careers teacher may have changed my life. I've spent my career going from job to job. After washing cars and working in bars I went into marketing. I then became an English teacher. Teaching has been the foundation for a lot of my career. I went into TAFE where I designed participation programs, then into HR, then developed training programs for industry.  I taught e-commerce and developed systems to make it easier for organisations to work together. I kept going for scholarships and going back to uni along the way. At one time I became a world expert on collaboration frameworks, and discovered it was tricky having a conversation about THAT with anyone I knew!! I now focus on delivering information that helps careers teachers to be fantastic. You can tap into my expertise by subscribing to my newsletter.
